Showing of Films made for the Albany competition – Film in Four
A new competition was announced at Surrey Border Movie Makers Club last year and the March meeting this year was the launch of the Film Edit Exercise with results produced from ’ found footage’. Members who wanted to take part in the competition searched through hours of footage from a dedicated website to put together their own short film. For some this proved to be a challenge too far, but after watching the interesting results from those members who submitted their films, it inspired others to have a go next time.
Philip Morley, one of our newer members won the competition with his comedy film called ‘Harry Hopkins and the Boche Enova’, he expertly edited many film clips to produce an hilarious comedy which had the audience in stitches. Philip discussed his technique and answered questions before accepting his trophy from club Chairman John Mills.
to make our films. Many members are switching to full high definition recording now small pocket cameras capture this so well.
We run training courses if you need some help and run competitions for those who like want to win awards. The club is a great way to meet new friends with a common interest. You can join a group or film crew or create a production and have people join you. The possibilities are endless and only limited by your imagination.
We meet each first Friday of the month in the brand new and very modern St. Joan’s Centre which is beside St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 19 Tilford Road,Farnham, Surrey GU9 8DJ, just 200 yards South of Farnham Station.
Directions to us by car
From the Farnham Bypass (A31) at traffic lights take the turning for Farnham Station (B3001). NB from Guildford this is a left turn. From the opposite direction there is NO RIGHT TURN, so turn left and turn round etc! Go over the level crossing at Farnham Station. Take the right fork onto Tilford Road. Look out for the second road a short distance up on the right called Alfred Road. Turn left directly opposite this into what looks little more than a gap in the hedge marked after dark by red reflectors. You will find your free car park beside the church a short way down. The St Joan’s Centre is on the far side of the church from the car park.
