Surrey Border Movie Makers<\/strong> was founded in 1984 by the late Sir Paul Holden<\/strong> who would have been very proud to have experienced the amateur film makers club\u2019s continuing success at their special 40th<\/sup> Anniversary meeting.<\/p>

The evening celebrated with a selection of films created by members past and present over the past 40 years. The evening was comp\u00e8red<\/span> by the club\u2019s Competition Officer Tim Stannard <\/strong>who acknowledged the longest standing Surrey Borders member John Thompson<\/strong> (image above) who was in the audience.<\/p>

The evening commenced with an animation film made in 1989 by Roland Couvela<\/strong> called \u2018The Inventor\u2019<\/strong> which won three trophies. \"\"This was followed by a film made in 1991 called \u2018 \u2018Aerial Ballet\u2019<\/strong> by current member David Jackson, <\/strong>filmed at Farnborough Air Show it won the 1st<\/sup> Time Entry Competition<\/strong>.<\/p>

\"\"The next film produced in 2001 was made by Vicky Jackson<\/strong> and was called \u2018The Marche\u2019<\/strong> it was entered into the Club Competition<\/strong> and featured a lively French Market town. <\/strong><\/p>

\"\"\u2019The Little Match Girl\u2019 <\/strong>was filmed in Farnham\u2019s Lion & Lamb Yard by Neil Cryer <\/strong>and featured some fine acting by his Granddaughter.<\/p>

\"\" In 2003 Martin Harder<\/strong> entered a film called \u2018Spare Some Change Please?\u2019 <\/strong>which won both the 1st <\/sup>Time Entry Competition <\/strong>and also the Most Creative Award.\"\" <\/strong><\/p>

In 2006 Gillian Gatland\u2019s <\/strong>film \u2018Pranburi Rain\u2019 <\/strong>won four awards Best Holiday Film, Best Photography, Best Creative <\/strong>and Best Overall.\"\" <\/strong><\/p>

Alan Hussey\u2019s <\/strong>film made in 2010 called \u2018The<\/strong> Search for the Sultans Elephant\u2019<\/strong> won the trophy for Best Overall Film.\"\"<\/p>

In 2012 Geoff Bentley<\/strong> made an adventurous film called \u2018Alice Lucullan\u2019s Tea Party\u2019<\/strong> which won the Best Overall Creative Film Award.\"\"<\/strong><\/p>

The club holds an annual Film in an Evening Competition <\/strong>and in 2014 the film \u2018Framed\u2019 <\/strong>was entered \u00a0by the late Alan Hussey, <\/strong>it won The Albany Shield <\/strong>and The Albany Sound Trophy.\"\" <\/strong><\/p>

Also in 2014 \u2018Cube 3\u2019 <\/strong>was directed and produced by Jeremy Bayne-Powell <\/strong>who used some terrific special effects, entry into BIAFF (British International Film Festival) <\/strong>won him an award of\u00a0 \u20184 stars\u2019.\"\"<\/p>

An animation called \u2018Mary Rose the True Story\u2019 <\/strong>by David Skertchly <\/strong>won both the Best Use of Sound <\/strong>and Best Overall trophies in 2020.\"\"<\/strong><\/p>

And finally coming right up to date Jim Reed\u2019s film \u2018Rip van Wrinkly\u2019<\/strong> using \u2018AI\u2019 effects won the best Short Film in Bristol\u2019s BFVS Film<\/strong> Competition.\"\"<\/strong><\/p>

During the coffee break a light buffet was served and everyone had a chance to chat about filmmaking past, present and in the future.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
