It is free to download and use, and it instantly became one of the fastest downloads ever \u2013 over 1 million downloads in less than 5 days.<\/p><p align=\"left\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-21780 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/surreyborder.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sora-2-Sam-Altman.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"333\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/surreyborder.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sora-2-Sam-Altman.jpg 722w, https:\/\/surreyborder.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sora-2-Sam-Altman-269x300.jpg 269w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><\/p><p class=\"western\" align=\"left\">The heart of the Sora social media platform is OpenAi\u2019s new video generator, Sora2, that allows users to create and share videos using what used to be called \u2018avators\u2019 but are now known by OpenAi as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kb9suz-kkoM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Cameos\u2019<\/a>. These are images generated by users and made available to friends (and others) via the Sora social media app.<\/p><p class=\"western\" align=\"left\">Any of these cameos can be included in videos you create by using additional text prompts, so it would be possible to put yourself (and your friends) into a fictitious scene \u2013 maybe shaking hands with Sam Altman whilst standing on the moon.<\/p><p class=\"western\" align=\"left\">Some of the creations I\u2019ve seen have been both wild and bordering on offensive. I can imagine that possible legal actions might begin to choke some of the currently available options within the software. Sam Altman himself describes it as a bit of an experiment to see what happens \u2013 and that will probably determine how it develops \u2013 I\u2019m sure he\u2019s right. We\u2019ll see.<\/p><p class=\"western\" align=\"left\">None of which should take away anything from the abilities of Sora 2.<\/p><p align=\"left\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-21781\" src=\"https:\/\/surreyborder.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sora-2-Sam-orchestra-1024x646.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"505\" srcset=\"https:\/\/surreyborder.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sora-2-Sam-orchestra-1024x646.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/surreyborder.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sora-2-Sam-orchestra-300x189.jpg 300w, https:\/\/surreyborder.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sora-2-Sam-orchestra-768x484.jpg 768w, https:\/\/surreyborder.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sora-2-Sam-orchestra.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p><p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JhH3uxcdM1M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Its a staggeringly good video generator (just look at this clip)<\/a> that, like Google Veo3 (and their latest Veo3.1), includes lip-syncing and audio from simple text prompts.<\/p><p class=\"western\" align=\"left\">Access to the more fully featured Sora2-Pro requires either a top end OpenAi ($200\/month) account, or access through one of the many platforms that have now utilised API access. That squarely places it in the same price bracket as Googles Veo3, and again sets the bar for video generation. <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><u><a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/sora-2\/\">https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/sora-2\/<\/a><\/u><\/span><\/p><p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-21779 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/surreyborder.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sora-2-man.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"304\" height=\"258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/surreyborder.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sora-2-man.jpg 950w, https:\/\/surreyborder.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sora-2-man-300x255.jpg 300w, https:\/\/surreyborder.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sora-2-man-768x652.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 304px) 100vw, 304px\" \/>One of the impressive improvements of the newer video generators is their understanding of physics, such as gravity and fluid dynamics. That means that objects move and interact as they would in the real world.
