Online Entry

Using SMASH to upload files and creating a link for SBMM.

Link: https://fromsmash.com/

SMASH is free to use to upload files of ANY size and is an alternative to WeTransfer as explained in this SMASH link

It’s the same as WeTransfer in that it requires your email address for validation, but it does not require any registration. It has the advantage that the uploads are much faster, there are unlimited transfers (WeTransfer restricts free users to 10 uploads in a rolling 30 day period), and transfers are valid by default for 7 days (unlike the 3 days of WeTransfer), but Smash can be extended to 14 days.

This 6-step guide shows how to create a link using SMASH for your video file and images ready for the SBMM online application. Use the link in ‘Step 1.‘ to open SMASH directly by using your computer browser.

Please include all your images together with the video file in your SMASH upload.

STEP 1.

Open Smash in your computer browser using this link:

https://fromsmash.com/

If you have a choice, choose the Free version. Your screen will show an image like this:

STEP 2.

Click the central ‘S’ Logo to select the files required. Click the orange ‘+’ image to add more files. Do not enter any other details yet.

STEP 3.

When you have uploaded all your files,  press the ‘Link’ tab and now complete the form with title and other details as requested.

STEP 4.

Clicking the ‘cog’ symbol next to the ‘Expires on ‘ message opens this options page. The default settings are fine, but this is where the option of up to 14 days can be selected.   Click done when finished.

STEP 5.

Click the orange tab ‘Get a link’. A validation code is sent to your email address. Enter the code and click verify.

The upload will start and an indicator show the progress.

STEP 6.

After the upload is completed, this screen will appear.

Simply click the ‘Copy link’ button to copy the link to your PC. Enter this link into the SurreyBorder Entry form as usual.
