Surrey Border Movie Makers Focus on Artificial Intelligence (Ai)

‘It’s not that the future is happening so fast, it’s more that the past has happened so slowly'

Scientists believe that human (biological) intelligence evolved over between 70-100 thousand years.
If we consider that artificial (digital) Intelligence began with the first computer, then Ai is still less than 100 years old.

Just think about what that might mean.

Now consider this; compared to biological intelligence, digital intelligence is immortal. It can be replicated in an instant, whereas biological systems can’t. Our life knowledge, learning and experience is lost when we die.

There are two aspects to Ai for our purposes:

A. Those programs and utilities that enhance our video making.
B. The wider implications of Ai and the impact it will have on our lives and the world in general.

To a large extend these two aspects are inseparable.

We now have access to stunning software whose abilities many thought to be impossible only a few years ago. For example, computer generated music (Suno), speech synthesis (cloning) and background noise removal (11Labs), correcting out-of-focus video (YouCam), creating realistic images from text prompts (Flux), and user interfaces that can answer questions, solve problems, undertake coding, or write articles (Chat-GPT, Gemini and Claude), to name just a few of the software available.

It’s relevant to recognize that these fabulous trinkets came to us as a direct result of far bigger ambitions from companies such OpenAi, Anthropic, Meta, Google Deepmind, X, Microsoft and Amazon as they compete on their journey to achieve the goal of ASi (Artificial Super Intelligence).

These series of posts relating to Artificial Intelligence will address both the General Ai developments, labelled as  [Ai], and also the Ai programs and utilities that help us as amateur Video Makers, labelled as [Ai Video Making]

Many yearly subscriptions offer discounts over monthly payments, but usually cancellation will still require the full years payment.
Many monthly subscription work on a rolling month basis, but cancellation will likely take effect at the end of the paid month.
That can be useful if the requirement is only for a short term project. Also some offer a limited free trial. Check the terms.
