LIVE GREEN SCREEN EVENT

Surrey Border Movie Makers Club Competition Officer John Hawthorne organised a live Green Screen run through at the October meeting of an upcoming film being made by the club. There were several new prospective members attending the October meeting and some of them came forward for roles in the Green Screen filming, one of which was Joel Walkinshaw who has recently completed a UCA filmmaking course and was keen to take on a camera role.

Following the Green Screen filming an example film previously entered into the 2025 December Members Competition by Jim Reed was shown called Spyder Fall an amusing animation.

Following on a film was shown which was created live in the hall at the August meeting by Paul Ashworth, called ‘Dead Man in the Back Row’ it involved seven actors and three cameras and was filmed in an evening.

A film made in Kempton Steam Museum was shown next, it was created by past member Peter Matthews and was an action packed film showing the preparation of a James Bond film. A film of a stage show by the Dementia Friendly Society was made by Philip Morley and Mike Sanders and this was shown next, it highlighted the wonderful work they do. A documentary by Peter Stratford titled ‘Lapland’ was shown next and took the viewer on a dog sledging journey, a home for injured Reindeer and into a scenic NW Swedish village called Abisko for a wonderful view of the Aurora Borealis Northern Lights. The final film ‘In Memory of The Sycamore Gap Tree’ was made by a Mother and Daughter team in honour of the iconic tree, it was a spoken word film created in a beautiful woodland setting and created a very poignant end to the October meeting.

The next meeting is on Friday 6th November and is the popular Inter Club Competition where six clubs around the UK will enter a film of 20 mins max. It will be held in the meeting hall and outside judges will be joining the members in the hall via Zoom.
